Structure Is Where Quality Starts
Everything else in a building sits on its structure. TAM Building builds that structure to the engineer's drawings, with attention to the details that decide how a building performs: load paths, connections, bracing and fire separation.
We work as the builder on projects that need structural framing as a trade package, or as part of a complete build. Engineering design is provided by our partner Tam-Crete Engineering where the project calls for it.

Professional Involvement
The Alberta Building Code (NBC 2023 Alberta Edition, in force May 1, 2024) sets out when engineering or architectural involvement is required (see Division C, 2.4.2). We confirm this at the start.
How We Work
Read the Drawings First
We review structure, connections and sequencing before the first cut.
Coordinate with the Engineer
Questions go to the designer quickly instead of being solved on site.
Build and Check
Work is checked against the drawings before it is covered.
Inspect
Inspections are booked at the right stage and passed before the next trade.
Structural & Framing FAQs
Do you do framing only, or whole projects?
Both. We can take on structural framing as a trade package or manage the whole build through our General Contracting service.
Do I need an engineer for my project?
Often yes for structural work. The code sets out when professional involvement is required, and we confirm it with you at the start.
Do retaining walls need a permit in Calgary?
Retaining walls over 1.2 m need a building permit.
Can you build from my engineer's drawings?
Yes. Send them through the form and we will review them.
Can you help design the structure as well?
Our partner Tam-Crete Engineering provides structural design, so design and build can be coordinated.
